Constructive Criticism

When someone criticizes your work, your behavior or how you are representing yourself, you can respond or react. Here are examples of what not to do and what to do when, not if, it happens to you.

Reaction:

Defensiveness, Facebook blocking, unkind word exchange, telling other people so they can also hate you, and ignoring.

Response:

Thank them for their honesty and let them know you will consider what they say or I understand what you’re saying but we’ll have to agree to disagree.

Embrace criticism instead of blocking out of your life. Sometimes these are opportunities for you to stretch your mind and heart and cause you to grow and mature. Stunting your emotional growth is caused by reacting to the negative and growing in wisdom and understanding comes from accepting and learning to understand other people’s perspective.
