Remember Splenda when you want to get rid of ants outside. When you pour Splenda on an ant pile the ants take it to the queen ant. There is an ingredient in Splenda called Sucralose (the made-up name by the manufacturer of Splenda, contains chlorinated compounds) that is poisonous to ants and when they swallow the granules, it kills them. I tried this last year in our driveway on the ants and within the day, they were all gone. Here are a couple of links to articles about using Splenda to kill ants.
